The Tundra Tabloids receives the following link from Aeneas concerning a few internal EDL issues that the organization’s leadership wants to get off their chest. KGS

Setting a few things straight…

Most people will be aware that recent events have shown that there have been ‘certain elements’ within the English Defence League who claim to be fighting in order to further our cause, but have actually been doing a great deal to damage our reputation.

Some relatively prominent EDL faces have claimed to be working “for the good of the EDL” when taking it upon themselves to make decisions that have not been approved by the leadership. As a result of this egotistical, delusional and downright selfish attitude, they have risked causing irreparable damage to our legitimate fight against radical Islam.

We owe it to the survival of our movement to make it very clear to all and sundry what the EDL is about, and not let that message be represented by our critics, the media, or the over-inflated egos of some of our own members.

Selfish idiocy has culminated in a lot of upset. Upset that has spread through the English Defence League membership, through divisions, through regions and ultimately to those who have worked tirelessly to support the leadership. Tommy and Kev are the founders of this great movement against radical Islam, and that must always be respected!

So, without further ado, let us deal with a few ongoing issues to set the record straight once and for all, that way the EDL will become stronger and more resolute for it.

  1. Searchlight poll finds huge support for far right ‘if they gave up violence’
Level of far-right support could outstrip that in France or Holland, says poll for Searchlight

‘Large numbers’ would support a far-right party, if it was not linked to violence. Huge numbers of Britons would support an anti-immigration English nationalist party if it was not associated with violence and fascist imagery, according to the largest survey into identity and extremism conducted in the UK.

A Populus poll found that 48% of the population would consider supporting a new anti-immigration party committed to challenging Islamist extremism, and would support policies to make it statutory for all public buildings to fly the flag of St George or the union flag.

Anti-racism campaigners said the findings suggested Britain’s mainstream parties were losing touch with public opinion on issues of identity and race.

  2. And this

    Multiculturalism R.I.P.
By Roger Scruton | The American Spectator

FOR WHAT IS BEING brought home to us, through painful experiences that we might have avoided had it been permitted before now to say the truth, is that we, like everyone else, depend upon a shared culture for our security, our prosperity and our freedom to be. We don’t require everyone to have the same faith, to lead the same kind of family life, or to participate in the same festivals. But we have a shared moral and legal inheritance, a shared language, and a shared public sphere. Our societies are built upon the Judeo-Christian ideal of neighbor-love, according to which strangers and intimates deserve equal concern. They require each of us to respect the freedom and sovereignty of every other, and to acknowledge the threshold of privacy beyond which it is a trespass to go unless invited. Our societies depend upon a culture of law-abidingness and open contracts, and they reinforce these things through the educational traditions that have shaped our common curriculum. It is not an arbitrary cultural imperialism that leads us to value Greek philosophy and literature, the Hebrew Bible, Roman law, and the medieval epics and romances, and to teach these things in our schools. They are ours, in just the way that the legal order and the political institutions are ours: they form part of what made us, and convey the message that it is right to be what we are.
