Its becoming increasingly clear that Mosques need to be monitored for inciteful proaganda. I have come across two stark instances where both an undercover camera and recorder, unveils a world where what is said and done in the public eye, does not reflect the message being offered behind closed doors.
The producer of a documentary for Czech television, Jiří Ovečka, has caused a stir in the Czech Republic’s Muslim community by videoing private converstations in a Prague Mosque. What it revealed was a disturbing display of contempt by some Muslims for the western society in which they live. According to an article in the Prague Post :
“The footage in I, Muslim shows a reporter pretending to be someone interested in converting to Islam. He conducts several conversations with members of the mosque, located in Černý Most, about Islam, Europe, terrorism and the role of women.”
“I wanted to get real opinions of the local Muslim community on the issue — find out what the differences are between Czech and foreign Islam,” he says. One Muslim in the documentary compares Islamic terrorists to Jan Palach, the Czech student who committed suicide by setting himself on fire in protest of the 1968 Soviet-led invasion of Czechoslovakia. Another says Islamic law should be implemented in the Czech Republic, including the death penalty for adultery, Ovečka says.
“I have to say with 100 percent certainty that by using hidden camera I have learned things that I would never have learned otherwise,” he says. “The result was alarming, and if not for the hidden camera, I would have never had any of this footage.”
In another similar situation, The head of Islamic chaplains in the New York City Department of Correction, Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil (who happens to be one of NYC’s most prominet Islamic leaders), was secretly recorded by the counterterrorism organization The Investigative Project. The Imam was recorded saying that:
“greatest terrorists in the world occupy the White House,” Jews control the media, and Muslims are being tortured in Manhattan jails.” At another session, Abdul-Jalil urged American Muslims to stop allowing “the Zionists of the media to dictate what Islam is to us” and said Muslims must be “compassionate with each other” and “hard against the kufr [unbeliever].”
According to anti-terror expert Steve Emerson, director of the IP:
“His comments betray an effort to instill hatred of the United States as the enemy of Islam by making a series of false allegations portraying the U.S. as an evil country,” said anti-terror expert Steve Emerson, director of The Investigative Project. “This is a man who is supposed to be spreading words of reconciliation and moderation as head Islamic chaplain – not inciting followers to believe that the U.S. government and ‘Zionists’ are plotting a conspiracy of persecution against Muslims,” Emerson added.
There are those who refuse to come to terms with the fact that, Islamist extremism has produced a softer expression of itself to non-Muslims, while kindling a message of hatred meant only for the ears of the faithull. Here is another example from Sweden. KGS
