FINNISH STATE BROADCASTER TRUMPETS NEW REFUGEE CENTER AS ”MAGNET FOR NEW EMPLOYMENT”……

This is akin to socialist politicians claiming that an increase to welfare payments is a boon to the economy.

“They will bring a liveliness here. As well, there will be about a million euros worth of work and spending power that comes with them. I can’t think of any negative effects,” says Karrimaa.

NOTE: Spoken like a true Leftist  (SDP). This wealth distribution taken out of the private sector will not produce any new wealth, or at least not as much as would have resulted if left in the private sector. We will be reading more about Harjavalta in the Finnish news, just wait and see.

A new refugee centre set to open in September has sparked the optimism of locals, who welcome the centre and the employment opportunities that it will bring.

The town of Harjavalta (population 7,500) near the city of Pori is getting ready to open its new asylum seeker reception centre. Fortunately, the large four-storey building was renovated a few years ago when the Pori City Hospital was temporarily housed there. Now all it needs is some furnishings and a few final touches.

“The timetable is tight, but we’re aiming to fulfil the Immigration Service’s hopes of getting the centre up and running as soon as possible,” says Finnish Red Cross Satakunta district director Paula Ilén.

A spark of optimism

Jaana Karrimaa, the mayor of Harjavalta, is extending a warm welcome to the asylum seekers who will be coming to stay at the centre. According to Karrimaa, the 260 refugees will have many positive effects on the city of Harjavalta.

“They will bring a liveliness here. As well, there will be about a million euros worth of work and spending power that comes with them. I can’t think of any negative effects,” says Karrimaa.

Employment opportunities at the reception centre have drawn interest.

“We have had many inquiries and received many resumes. We’ll have about one week to fill the spots,” says Ilén.
