TUNISIA’S ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALIST RUN GOVERNMENT APPLAUDS RECENT AWARDED TUNISIAN DIRECTOR OF LESBIAN FILM…….

When they want recognition they temporarily hide their intolerance.

This is the same government that arrested a woman for showing her breasts in a Facebook page criticizing Islamic sharia. If the very same women in the picture directed by Abdellatif Kechiche were to promote the lesbian lifestyle in Tunisia, they would be promptly arrested. There’s no doubt that the movie, Blue is the warmest color, will not be shown in theaters in Tunisia.

NOTE: I also believe that Kechiche’s background, a Muslim from Tunisia, had a lot to do with a high-grade production lesbo porn flick getting the top prize.

AFP – The culture minister in Tunisia’s Islamist-led government on Monday congratulated French-Tunisian director Abdellatif Kechiche for winning the Cannes Film Festival’s top prize, without referring to the explicit lesbian relationship the movie details.

“The minister of culture (Mehdi Mabrouk) congratulated the director Abdellatif Kechiche for this international recognition, wishing him much success in the world of cinema,” the ministry announced.

The statement made no mention of the film’s plot, about a passionate love affair between two young women, a taboo subject in the Arab-Muslim world.

The ministry gave no indication about whether the film might come out in socially conservative Tunisia.

Since the Arab Spring uprising in January 2011 that toppled Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, art galleries, films and cultural festivals in Tunisia have been targeted, sometimes violently, by radical Islamists who were suppressed under the former dictator.
