It’s all about the sharia.
What’s happening to Islamic communities and to Muslim states outside of the M.E, is the same as if the Catholic Church took to rooting out all the non-Catholic practices and understandings that’s creeped into its various dioceses around the developing world. Reintroducing true Catholic understanding of the faith as its practiced in Rome.
That in itself, wouldn’t represent a threat to anyone else, because Catholics don’t seek to place everyone (including non-Catholics) and states, under Roman Catholic canon law, but where Islam is concerned, the same can’t be said, the ruse that ”Islam has been hijacked” by extremists, just doesn’t pass the smell test. Those who disseminate such nonsense would have you believe that the caretakers of Islam haven’t a clue about their own belief system and what Mohamed really stands for.
In a world where Saudi Wahhabists and Salafists (and every other brand of Islamic fundamentalism in between) had no reach outside the bloody borders of Islam, Muslims in the West would continue to being influenced by the normal society that exists around them. They would be forced by a fait accompli of incorporating western mores and values which would mean placing more emphasis on the more benign reading of Islamic texts.
But since Islam consists of open ended verses calling for violence against the unbeliever, and instituting the sharia law, even the more draconian, barbaric aspects of it for all time, the influence of Gulf petrol dollars flowing into the West has had an effect on Muslims there. They will inevitably revert to ancient traditional readings and understanding of that ideology, because of the duality that exists in the koran. This is why the following situation has been made possible.
American Muslims Launch Petition to Limit Free Speech
Islamic leaders in Missouri and New Jersey are calling for lawmakers to limit free speech after an anti-Muslim film sparked outrage across the world.
The Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City has launched a petition calling on Congress to “establish a law against insulting one’s religion.”
“We understand the First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution is part of the Bill of Rights and, as such, prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, etc., but when the allowance of “free” speech incites violence it should be banned,” read a statement from the Islamic Society.
NOTE: When you read further, Fibber Hooper from CAIR, the un-indicted conspirator organization in the Holy Land Foundation trial, says that he’s against the move, and for more free speech. But if the situation was in a different America, where Islam was more high profile and of far greater clout than it is currently, and the mood was right, does anyone really believe that Hooper/CAIR wouldn’t be attacking the First Amendment?
