VLAAMS BELANG MP QUESTIONS BELGIAN GOVERNMENT ON PALESTINIAN RECONCILIATION IN LIGHT OF HAMAS STATEMENTS ON JEWS AND BIN LADEN……

Special thanks to Mr.Veys for sending the minutes of a period in the Belgian parliament where he, as a VB representative in parliament questioned the government over its understanding of Hamas, in light of what it’s representatives have stated in public about Jews in general and of Osama Bin-Laden.

The dialogue coming from the Socialists is telling, they are more than willing to look between their fingers and give the Hamas, not matter what they say, while juxtaposing the two sides. KGS

Questions by Mr Tanguy Veys to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Institutional Reforms on “the recent reconciliation agreement between Hamas and Fatah and the Hamas response to the death of Osama bin Laden” (No. 4726)

COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN RELATIONS of WEDNESDAY, 18 MAY 2011

04.06 Tanguy Veys (VB): Mr President, Mr Minister, I certainly do not share the enthusiasm of colleagues and Van der Maelen Boulet on the recent reconciliation agreement between Hamas and Fatah. I would also Mr van der Maelen at this juncture that he throws things in a pile and even tries Brussels-Halle-Vilvoorde involved in the conflict. I hope that we will never have to endure such conditions.

What are the facts? There is one part the agreement as it is in fact already been closed on April 27 in Cairo, Fatah of the Palestinian Authority under Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas with Hamas with a view to establishing a Palestinian national unity government. Here the representatives of Hamas, namely Abu Marzouk, the deputy of the political bureau, and Mahmud al-Zahar, head of diplomatic relations, that the conditions posed by the quartet were outdated. For the quartet, I refer to the Agreement of 30 November 2006. The quartet includes the United States, the United Nations, the European Union and the Russian Federation.

There was an agreement on the three following conditions apply for each member of a Palestinian government. Those conditions include recognition of the legitimacy of Israel, acceptance of previous Israeli-Palestinian agreements and renunciation of violence. It is precisely these three conditions set by the afore mentioned leaders of Hamas were literally dismissed. So perhaps the enthusiasm for Hamas that a conciliation agreement with Fatah.

In the second instance is also referred to the recent ruling by Ismail Haniya, the Prime Minister of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, about Osama bin Laden. We can say that it lapses, or that we should all fit, but I refer to an interview with a Hamas MP and religious leader, Yunis al-Astal, on May 11, so more recently, on Al Aqsa TV. What that man said there is not the language of the FDF, but the language of Hamas. I quote:

“The Jews were brought to Palestine in large droves so the Palestinians with the support of the entire Islamic nation would have the honor of this evil gang’s eradication. All the predators, all the raptors, though the most dangerous reptiles and insects and all the deadly bacteria are much less dangerous than the Jews “.

Thus, Yunis al-Astal, a Hamas MP.

“Yunis Al-Astal: […] In just a few years, all the Zionists and the settlers will realize that their arrival in Palestine was for the purpose of the great massacre, by means of which Allah wants to relieve humanity of their evil.

[…]

When Palestine is liberated and its people return to it, and the entire region, with the grace of Allah, will have turned into the United States of Islam, the land of Palestine will become the capital of the Islamic Caliphate, and all these countries will turn into states within the Caliphate. When this happens, any Palestinian will be able to live anywhere, because the land of Islam is the property of all Muslims.

One last quote.

Until this happens, we must reject all the resettlement plans, naturalization, or even reparations prior to the return of the refugees”.

Minister, despite the enthusiasm of some for the reconciliation agreement, I wish to highlight for example the independent Commission on Human Rights in Palestine itself, which has recently published an annual report. I refer to arrests without charge or charges, torture, arbitrary detentions, killings, no right to defense, complete lack of transparency, and reintroduction of capital punishment often without trial or charge, and disappearances and settlements.

Colleagues, there is still a lot to wait once that agreement also effectively closed.

To Mrs. Boulet, I may already say, regarding the freezing of the funds, the monthly envelope of 60 million euro meanwhile was released.

The Chairman : Mr. Veys, the interpellation is a question and not so close, and ask your question.

04.07 Tanguy Veys (VB): I think there at least have the concern was removed.

Minister, given the reconciliation agreement between Fatah and Hamas, nevertheless still known as terrorist organization, which denies Israel’s right to exist, I would like you to say whether or not it threatens the peace negotiations. If not, why not? If so, what actions, if any, have you taken?

Finally, have you also responded to recent statements by Hamas on the death of Osama bin Laden? If so, how so? If not, why not?

4.11 Dirk Van der Maelen (SP.A): I believe Mr. Jambon is right. We must be sensitive to the opportunity that presents itself. I fear that if the peace process is underway quickly pulled, we next few months and maybe the next two years with very large problems will be faced and that we regret that we will get too much attention paid to the extremes on both sides.

We can not do. I regret that Mr Veys used those statements. I invite him to take a hard look at what the other side says, but I need him and everyone therefore not take into account what, for example Minister Lieberman all been told. He is Minister of Foreign Affairs, and hence the first best. If we go by what the extremes say it will lead to inactivity and explosion in the Middle East.

Minister, I note that you have little or nothing said about the recognition of the Palestinian State. You do that 14 days ago, on May 4, done. I have here an article from the Washington Post. “Sarkozy to seek recognition of Palestinian state if peace talks do not restart by September.” Even David Cameron says in The Guardian against Netanyahu: Joint talks, or May I support Independence declaration. “

My conclusion is that the two European leaders consider that the peace talks to restart. They use the declaration of independence of Palestine as a means of exerting pressure on Israel. I want the government to invite the track to follow and to put pressure on the Israeli government to start talks.

The reason why Abbas has closed the agreement is that he is very heavy fire on the West Bank. I do not know if you saw it, but Wikileaks has revealed how far Abbas wanted to go. Abbas wanted to go very far in his concessions. The fact that it leaked, he now addressed himself heavily in the West Bank. He had no choice but to find something for the Palestinian public to calm down. For him that the agreement with Hamas.

Minister, you’re right, Hamas has delegated to Abbas to conduct negotiations with Israel. The Palestinians want to negotiate so. The problem is now with the Netanyahu government. This must be put to the press to begin discussions.

04.12 Tanguy Veys (VB): Mr Chairman, I thank the Minister for his reply. I would still like to clarify that no Israeli government has inflated the peace talks. It was the Palestinians, the called it impossible.

When the minister asks for too much attention to the statements, then I would point out that such statements come from the Prime Minister of Hamas in the Gaza Strip and a Hamas member of parliament. Mr van der Maelen also placed the statements on the same level as that of Minister Lieberman. Statements were made as: “Jews are more dangerous than the most dangerous reptiles, insects and the deadly bacteria.”

We have to go back to World War II to hear such language. I can hard to condone. You as a minister says it wants to watch the action. Recently there was the statement by Richard Goldstone, which clearly stated their view that Hamas and its actions were in the wrong. are indeed responsible for heavy civilian casualties

04.16 Tanguy Veys (VB): Mr Chairman, you talked about the survival of Israel. It is true that Israel carries out a battle for survival. Some Palestinians winds also clear: they want the destruction of the Israeli state and to drive the Jews into the sea. It is therefore logical that a nation that wants to survive with the resources it has, try to defend its right to exist. Foreign powers should certainly respect that.

It is unfortunate that Mr Jambon is gone. He stated that the extremes on both sides are, but when it comes to extremes on the Israeli side I do not think it was on their side already innocent civilian casualties, which certainly can not be said on the Palestinian side.

4.17 Dirk Van der Maelen (SP.A): (…) to the level that you will read it. Both are condemned.

NOTE: Google translation, so there will be some grammatical errors.

  1. Glad that someone is taking notice that these are FALSE “peace partners”.

    1. Vlaams Belang are the rare party that regularly sticks up for Israel, yet they’re the ones called fascists.

  2. this is the most poorly constructed English I have read in a long time! Which is telling as I teach children. Anyway, back to your cowardice standpoint; perhaps you should look at the atrocities the West has committed on the poor people of the Middle East before making comments about the demographics of the region. Regardless, lets not ignore the fact that once you and your evil kind have successfully gassed and beheaded all the Muslims in Europe, you will be very quick to turn your attentions to the Jews and thereafter all the countries you have not yet raped and pillaged of their natural resources. Understand this, my ignorant friend, there is no more black and white in the world, no brown or yellow man, there is only the rich and the poor, the modern day aristocrat and the modern day proletariat. You need to decide which side YOU stand on. Peace.

    1. I’ll take badly constructed English sentences over your lousy disingenuous propaganda any day of the week.
