US: VP Mike Pence praises ‘moderate Islam’ in Indonesia to heal divisions…….

He’s not kidding anyone, especially the Muslims he’s talking about…

From Andrew Bostom’s blogpost on ”moderate Islam’ claims, a mention about ….Indonesia

Very disturbing polling data released April 24, 2007 from a rigorous face-to-face University of Maryland/ WorldPublicOpinion.org interview survey confirm the magnitude of sentiments favorably inclined towards the ultimate goals of jihadism within the contemporary global Muslim umma, or community. Of the 4384 Muslims interviewed between December 9, 2006 and February 15, 2007—1000 Moroccans, 1000 Egyptians, 1243 Pakistanis, and 1141 Indonesians—65.2%, almost 2/3, hardly a “fringe minority”—desired this outcome: “To unify all Islamic countries into a single Islamic state or Caliphate,” including 49% of “moderate” Indonesian Muslims. The internal validity of these data about the present longing for a Caliphate is strongly suggested by a concordant result: 65.5% of this Muslim sample approved the proposition “To require a strict [strict emphasized in original] application of Shari’a law in every Islamic country.” Moreover, an earlier survey of British Muslims indicated that up to 40% of them wished to replace Britain’s current liberal democratic system with the Shari’a.

There is no ‘moderate Islam’, there’s just Islam. Whether the adherents to the creed choose to focus on early Meccan or later Medinan texts is one thing, but the ideology itself is immutable, the latter half is the more authoritative of the two. What we’re talking about here is choice, and the level of influence and power of those who cling to the latter portion (Post-Hijra) of the koran in any given Islamic society.

This jackassery has to be refuted, long and hard.

Pence praises moderate Islam in Indonesia in bid to heal divisions

Jakarta (AFP) – US Vice President Mike Pence Thursday praised Indonesia’s moderate form of Islam as “an inspiration” at the start of a visit to the Muslim-majority country seen as a bid by his administration to heal divisions with the Islamic world.

It came ahead of a visit by Pence to the largest mosque in Indonesia, which has the world’s biggest Muslim population, where he will hold a multi-faith dialogue.

His visit represents the most high-profile outreach to Muslims by the Donald Trump administration since the brash billionaire came to office and echoes a similar trip by Barack and Michelle Obama in 2010.

Since becoming president almost 100 days ago, Trump has hosted leaders from majority-Muslim Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

But his administration has also tried to ban travellers from several Muslim-majority nations, citing concerns about terrorism — an effort currently being challenged in US courts.

As a presidential candidate, Trump often appeared to flirt with the far right as he railed against “radical Islamic terrorism”.
