Report: Turkey torturing detainees from Erdogan’s latest purges

According to Amnesty International, “We have gathered credible evidence that the government in Ankara is torturing detainees who are being held due to the attempted coup both in official facilities and unofficial facilities.” Over 10,000 people have been arrested and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared a state of emergency for 3 months.

As the international community is increasingly concerned about the purges taking place in Turkey, a report was published by Amnesty International claiming that they have “credible evidence” in their hands that the detainees in Turkey are being tortured and in some cases even raped.
