Finnish Immigration Concerns Jussi Halla-aho

FINLAND: HALLA-AHO SAYS MINISTRY OF INTERIOR DISSEMINATING MISLEADING INFO ON ASYLUM DECISIONS……..

Highly vaunted Finnish honesty takes a severe hit…..

It’s the curse of involvement in the EU, it has all kinds of negative, corrupting influences upon member states.

[Defence Minister Jussi Niinistö says he’s concerned about the number of illegal migrants crossing the border from Russia into Finland. Niinistö told a meeting of NATO defence ministers that the situation is challenging and could see up to one million people crossing the eastern border.]

– Either they’re not able to use a slide-ruler there, or else there is an intention to use a false sense of optimism to calm the citizens, suspects Halla-aho.

Finns MEP Jussi Halla-aho criticized the interior ministry of the dissemination of misleading information.

The Interior Ministry estimates that between 30-40 per cent of asylum-seekers that came to Finland last year would be to obtaining a favorable decision. Halla-aho’s own calculations show that 70 per cent have applied for asylum will receive residence permits.

Halla-aho’s calculations are based on different categories of asylum seekers in 2015, who received positive decisions. For example, Iraqis in 2015, 85 percent of applicants received a favorable decision.

– I do not know exactly what it is the division of labor in the Ministry of the Interior, between the Minister and, for example, the Permanent Secretary, how much of this consideration and reflection has been delegated to officialdom, but I think the Ministry of Internal Affairs currently provides misleading information about, for example, how many the last year, were likely to get a residence permit in Finland.

Ministry is lead by the interior minister Peter Orpo (cons.). the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry is Päivi Nerg.

Halla-aho also criticized the Interior Ministry’s loose line on family reunification. According to him, Ministry of the Interior has no willingness to reduce Finland’s attractiveness to asylum seekers.

– The Interior Ministry itself has stated in its estimates that some of the tightening, which has been implemented in other countries, are likely to reduce the number here for future asylum seekers. In other words, there is acknowledgement that there are incentives that make Finland an attractive destination, but there is not a willingness to intervene.

Halla-aho deems his own calculations of asylum seekers benefiting from the Interior Ministry, more reliable calculations.

– Either they’re not able to use a slide-ruler there, or else there is an intention to use a false sense of optimism to calm the citizens, suspects Halla-aho.
