A number of red alert sirens were sounded in the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council area on Thursday, as well as an additional siren in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council.
It was not immediately known if, or how many projectiles, were fired from Gaza in the apparent attack. According to unconfirmed media reports, at least two projectiles landed in Israel.
A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed near the Eshkol Regional Council on Tuesday night, the first such attack since Operation Protective Edge came to an end on August 26.
Hamas arrested the culprits, believed to be a small Salafi group, and made clear to Israel that it remained committed to the cease-fire agreement, according to Prime Minister Binyamion Netanyahu.
