Eurozone banks face £42bn ‘capital black hole’
Government adviser Davide Serra says this year’s stress tests by European authorities are likely to find fresh problems in the eurozone banks.

Eurozone banks are facing a new capital black hole of as much as €50bn (£42bn), according to one of the UK’s most respected financial analysts.
Davide Serra, the chief executive of Algebris, who advises the Government on banking, said that this year’s stress tests by the European Banking Authority and the European Central Bank were likely to find fresh problems in the eurozone banks.
He said that Germany had one of “the worst banking systems in the world” and that three or four regional Landesbanken were likely to be wound up. He also said banks in Portugal and Greece were likely to need more capital.
Finland: Another cop likely to be held in drug squad probe
One of three former subordinates of former Helsinki drug squad leader Jari Aarnio, questioned in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation, is likely to be remanded into custody. Two were released on Thursday, but police are seeking a court order to continue holding the third.
The officer in question is under suspicion of offenses including abuses of his official position to obtain permission for, and carrying out, covert actions. These can include court-sanctioned bugging of phone conversations, working undercover and the purchase of drugs as part of police operations.

Wall Street Journal: Dutch Amusement Park Racist
A journalist from the Wall Street Journal said that the major Dutch amusement park Efteling has racist attractions in which people with dark skin are presented negatively. She mentioned in particular a merry-go-round called Monsieur Cannibale which has an enormous black figure with a chef’s cap and a large spoon through his nose.
The journalist said that it reminded her of the initial Dutch colonization of what were the Dutch Indies. These remarks follow last year’s widespread criticism on the figure of Black Pete in the national children’s holiday, Sinterklaas.
Thousands of Barclays customer files stolen and sold to scammers – report
An investigation is under way after confidential files relating to customers of Barclays Bank were allegedly stolen and sold on to rogue City traders.
The Mail on Sunday said highly sensitive information including customers’ earnings, savings, mortgages, health issues and insurance policies ended up in the hands of unscrupulous brokers.
The leak was exposed by an anonymous whistleblower who passed the newspaper a memory stick containing files on 2,000 of the bank’s customers, the paper said. He claimed it was a sample from a stolen database of up to 27,000 files, which he said could be sold by for up to £50 per file.
Each report was about 20 pages long and among the victims were doctors, businesspeople, scientists, a musician and a cleaner, the newspaper said. All had sought financial advice from the bank and passed on their details during meetings with an adviser.
Arrests after riots of disappointed HSV fans

After the lost with 0:3 match against Hertha BSC the HSV fans vented their anger. Hundreds of them marched to the stadium and demanded a debate with the team.
After the clashes between supporters and players of the Hamburger SV in front of the stadium, there were arrests. “Around 100 people have attacked the security service. It also glass bottles were thrown.
