Dutch State-Funded T.V. offers anti-Semitic Game

Last month, the Dutch state-funded Liberal Protestant network VPRO uploaded a game to its website which is anti-Semitic. It features Israeli settlers who try to expand their communities and mine diamonds, allowing them to use the ‘Israeli stinginess’ card to force competitors to hand over resources, and an ‘Anne Frank card’ to colonize the West Bank.

The instructions refer three times to the nation’s typical ‘mercantile spirit.’ Terrorist attacks are described as a natural result of settlement expansion. The VPRO said the game was ‘satirical.’ Dr. Shimon Samuels of the Simon Wiesenthal Center said that “It would be more likely as a product of neo-Nazis or Ahmadinejad.” The Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science provides 89% of VPRO’s budget.
