‘The Dersh’ misses it by a mile.
From Brian of London on a piece he read by Aussie Dave about Harvard Law professor, Alan Dershowitz, and his complete lack of understanding of the Muslim Arabs’ honor and shame culture- Brian tells the TT that:
Alan Dershowitz says he sent a copy of the Curb Your Enthusiasm “Palestinian Chicken” episode to Bibi with a suggestion that he invite Abbas over to watch it and have a laugh together. Among other messages including the inevitable “why can’t we all just get along” the episode features Larry David having wild sex with a Palestinian Arab who calls him a filthy Jew.The point is that if Dershowitz doesn’t know enough about Arab honour and shame culture and the deeply humiliation of having an Arab woman have sex with this ugly little Jew, he really either doesn’t know anything about our enemies or he doesn’t have the mental acuity to realise that other people don’t think the same way he does. Its really a very serious issue and typifies the problem we have with peace processors failing to understand how fundamentally different the other side is.
This is of course a very serious point, and spot on analysis by Brian. Dershowitz is an intelligent man, and knows the ins and outs of the Arabs’ conflict with Israel very well. The TT does in fact disagree with him on some issues, but overall, he has a good understanding of the issues, and he doesn’t take to raking Israel over the coals like some of his colleagues on the Left do.
That said, he is obviously ignorant of the issues Brian raises. Read on, as well as taking the time to stop by Yisrael Medad’s place and who gives background to the Curb Your Enthusiasm part of the story. KGS
I think Dershowitz is not being serious, but just making a joking remark.
He did send the book however, but I can only hope that he was doing a tongue in cheeck.
Dershowitz I’m sure perfectly aware of the Arab world and its culture of honour/shame(some honour killing – your female relatives). He knows perfectly well what he is doing.
The more important aspect of Brian of London’s thesis is that we must always be sensitive and concerned about the sensitivities of Arabs and Muslims. But are Muslims concerned and sensitive about our feelings. Heck no, even when they are living here in the West.
In such ways are dhimmis made.

How is one to make peace with an enemy that is intent, and says so openly, that it wants your complete destruction?
