Finland Global Warming

FINLAND EMBRACES MAN MADE GLOBAL WARMING NONSENSE…….

This is highly typical of the Finns, if the UN and EU says it’s so, well by damn it’s got to be so! KGS

NOTE: There hasn’t been any debate in Finland, televised or otherwise, where the science itself has been put under microscope and judged on its merits. For the statist who’s always looking for a chance to increase the role of government and subsidize monumental projects with the tax-payers money, man made Global Warming nonsense is a gift from the socialist gods.

Also, check the following article for what other goodies the Finnish government is going to pickpocket it’s citizens for.

2011 Brings New Fuel, Rights — and Costs

YLE: The new year brings a variety of changes in legislation, taxes and fees. These include a new type of petrol, new sweets and energy taxes and a higher television fee.

A new type of petrol known as 95 E10 is being introduced as part of EU efforts to reach emissions cuts. It contains up to 10 percent ethanol, whereas the limit for regular gasoline is five percent ethanol. The new fuel is suitable for use in more than 70 percent of vehicles. The old type of 98-octane petrol will remain available for other cars, but will become more expensive. This 98 E5 petrol should be used for vehicles with an octane requirement above 95. For further information, see the official E10 data website.

The new fuel can be used for small engines such as lawnmowers and chainsaws.

The change is part of a reform of energy taxation, aimed at limiting greenhouse gas emissions. The tax on ethanol is dropping, while that on coal and natural gas is rising.

In other changes:

– A new confectionery tax will gradually raise the costs of sweets, ice cream and sugary soft drinks.

The annual TV license fee is going up by six percent. The fee, which is obligatory for anyone who owns a TV set, is going up to 244.90 euros. It is the main source of revenue for the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE).

TINSC adds: “That’s nothin’! Wait until they pass a cap-and-trade system that taxes the air you breath. I kid you not.

Unfortunately, Finland is going about the biofuels business bass-ackwards. Rather than mandating ethanol content in gasoline, Finland should mandate fuel choice in cars. If every car in Finland could run on any combination of alcohol or gasoline, the marketplace would determine how much of each is produced. At current rates for petroleum, MORE ethanol would actually be produced this way.

Instead, by slicing up the pie, Finland is marching in step with Europe to maintain OPEC’s monopoly on petroleum prices. Using 10% ethanol might make environmentalists feel good, but it actually represents a drop in the bucket for the total biofuels market that exists right now. While global warming enthusiasts cheer the new 10% ethanol (i.e. 5% reduction in gasoline use) thousands upon thousands of Indians and Chinese are buying their first cars thus increasing demand for petroleum far faster than a measly 5% reduction in Finland (or even the USA) can accommodate. OPEC goes laughing all the way to the bank while politicians pat themselves on the back for a “job well done”.

NOTE: The Tundra Tabloids is against most if not all subsidies.
