Imam Khodr Chehab is dead
YLE: Finnish Muslim community Imam Khodr Chehab, Khaled has died. Chehab died Thursday night in Beirut, amongst his family, “says Finnish Muslim community on its website.
Khodr Chehab came to Finland from Beirut, Lebanon in 1987 and applied for asylum. Finnish citizenship was granted in 1998.
Chehab was involved in building a
fundamentalistmoderate Islam in Finland and worked as an imam for the Finnish Islamic community. He oversaw the establishing of the community’s mosque project including the Islamic kindergarten.
Imam Chehab was also as guest at the president’s mansion and besides being an imam, he was also an economist and teacher of Arabic. He was born in 1962.
Chehab’s death was first published by Helsingin Sanomat.
