ISRAEL: Who could have guessed?!
Please do take note, that this is not the same UN body the Israelis are presently working with in an investigation to what had really transpired on board the Mavi Marmara. The al-AP report makes no mention of that fact until towards the end of the article. To know one’s surprise, the verdict handed down by the UNHRC, is not unlike what one could expect to be handed down to a Black man in an apartheid South African court (that justice Goldstone had once sat on), GUILTY!
Thankfully, the record is already clear that the Israelis broke no laws, which helps to place the spotlight on the UNHRC itself, in how they could have come to such a gross decision that goes beyond all reason and logic. It just goes to help to under line the reasons for getting rid of the UNHRC as it stands, for it’s not a serious body. KGS
NOTE: To all you journalists that read the Tundra Tabloids, you know who you are, parroting the al-AP report like some mindless drone is not responsible journalism.
UN experts: Israel flotilla raid broke int’l law
al-AP: GENEVA – A report by three U.N.-appointed human rights experts Wednesday said that Israeli forces violated international law when they raided a Gaza-bound aid flotilla killing nine activists earlier this year.
The U.N. Human Rights Council’s fact-finding mission concluded that Israel’s naval blockade of the Palestinian territory was unlawful because of the humanitarian crisis there, and described the military raid on the flotilla as brutal and disproportionate.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry responded late Wednesday by saying the Human Rights Council, which commissioned the report, had a “biased, politicized and extremist approach.”
The Islamic militant group Hamas that controls Gaza, meanwhile, praised the report and called for those involved in the raid to be punished.
