Andrew Bostom Islamic anti-Semitism

Most of you have by now seen the video of US Att-Gen Eric Holder fumbling and dissembling before a US congress sub-committee about the recent jihadi attack in downtown Manhattan. The man just couldn’t bring himself to mouth the words that Islam was in some way, connected to the jihadist attack.
It’s not that Holder is stupid, (though some may regard his actions in this instance, and in other instances as well, as being indicative of stupidity) but that he’s duty bound to support present government policy that mistakenly believes that, by refusing to acknowledge the Islamic underpinnings of these attacks, you refuse the jihadists the credibility that they seek from the greater ummah.
Never mind the fact that the average Muslim cares not a whit about what we non-Muslims think about Islamic teaching or jurisprudence, and whether or not we deny these jihadists any legitimacy in the eyes of other Muslims, it’s what the Muslims themselves think about jihad that matters most.
To show how jihadi violence is approved of by mainstream Islamic teaching throughout its history -that it is indeed an open ended “prescriptive” call to wage war against the non-believer- one only needs to look at how Islamic texts incorporates the same open ended understanding of ancient anti-Semitic motifs, and how they have warped Muslim views of the Jews throughout history, and into the present day.
Both Islamic violence and Islamic anti-Semtism are intrinsically tied together and prove that the average Muslim understands his ancient scriptures to be applicable in the literal sense in the present day. You only have to view the videos and transcripts of what mainstream Islamic leaders and clerics say and preach throughout the Islamic world, viewable at the MEMRI organization, to understand that it is indeed a mainstream phenomenon.

But first, have a look at some of the verses that have set the stage for Islamic Jew hatred, that is roundly approved by the Islamic world since they never have been condemned by anyone with a measure of credibility in Islamic scholarship.

Surah 11, v. 96, ibid. “And thou wilt find them [the Jews] the greediest of mankind”
Surah III, v. 117-120,They [the Jews] will spare no pains to corrupt you. They desire nothing but your ruin. Their hatred is clear from what they say, but more violent is the hatred which their breasts conceal.”
Qur’an (5:51) – “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.”
Ishaq 262 – “Some Muslims remained friends with the Jews, so Allah sent down a Qur’an forbidding them to take Jews as friends. From their mouths hatred has already shown itself and what they conceal is worse”
It’s only logical then, that the main reason why the Islamic world has never been able to reconcile itself to the idea of a Jewish state in the heart of the Islamic world, is due to Islamic anti-Semitism, without it, (as TINSC coined) the war against Israel could not exist.
Open ended calls by Mohamed for violence against the unbeliever (those who do not believe in his message) is evidence enough to underline the point that what the jihadis are doing today, has strong backing in Islamic texts and principles, and there isn’t anyone willing to point out exactly where these jihadis are getting it all wrong, without proving our point.
Qur’an (9:29) – “Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.”
Mohamed’s Jew hatred in the 7th century can be understood in the exact same way as his call for violence against the non-believer in Islam, it was not descriptive, but PRESCRIPTIVE, there by giving ample fodder for future generations of Muslims to carry on with the jihad (when the situation allows for it) and hate the Jews with full backing from the Koran, Hadiths and the sira.
That, more than anything else dispels the notion that the verses in the Koran are traditionally understood to pertain to the time period of their prophet. That is simply not the case. While it’s true that the Medina period was more tolerant than the Meccan period, the former does not overrule the latter, on the contrary, the latter abrogates the former. KGS
NOTE: An excellent book on the subject is Dr.Andrew Bostom’s book, The Legacy of Islamic Ant-Semitism, in fact, for anyone wanting to understand Muslim anti-Semitsm, Bostom’s book is required reading.

NOTE: Watch this hogwash from Fox News with Alan Colmes making a complete jackass out of himself, and the host coming in a close second. Both are cluess twits, with the host acting from ignorance and knee jerk political correctness, while Colmes acts from brazen arrogance and Leftist stupidity.

  1. You want "prescriptive" in place of "proscriptive," otherwise the meaning of your post is the exact opposite of the point you want to get across.

  2. Thanks for posting this!

I just sent Megyn Kelly an e-mail, don't know if it helps, but its a try, at least:

    I just sent Megyn this:

    Dear Megyn,

You normally come across as quite intelligent and well informed.

When debating Islam, however, it is clear that you know very little, and debating something you know little about with a complete moron like skeletor makes you look foolish and reflects badly on your show.

May I suggest that you get some experts like Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, David Horowitz, Brigitte Gabriel or myself on your show?

It would be a lot more interesting, informative, truthful and helpful for the general public than the mental tosh of Alan Colmes, who is about as relevant to this debate as a cigarette butt.

If you have any questions re Islam please check with

    Kindest regards,

  3. Hi Sheik,

Megyn would learn a great deal from reading both our blogs, Skeletor on the other hand doesn't have the mental capacity of a fruit fly.
