ACTOR TOM HANKS DISHONORS WAR VETERANS FROM WWII…….

Here’s a case of a Hollywood actor who should learn to shut his mouth about American and world history, until he finishes reading and learning from factually correct history books, not the nonsense peddled from faux revisionist historians like Howard Zinn. What an embarressment it should be to pubilicly expose yourself as the village idiot, and not even know it.
Although I am used to Hollywood stars making the most outrageous, anti-American and downright stupid statements, I’ve got to admit that I was taken aback by this post over at Hot Air, nonetheless. Its subject: Tom Hanks said recently that America wanted to ”annihilate the Japanese because they were different.” Yes, seriously:

He is pleased that The Pacific has fulfilled an obligation to our World War II vets. He doesn’t see the series as simply eye-opening history. He hopes it offers Americans a chance to ponder the sacrifices of our current soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. “From the outset, we wanted to make people wonder how our troops can re-enter society in the first place,”
Hanks says. “How could they just pick up their lives and get on with the rest of us? Back in World War II, we viewed the Japanese as ‘yellow, slant-eyed dogs’ that believed in different gods. They were out to kill us because our way of living was different. We, in turn, wanted to annihilate them because they were different. Does that sound familiar, by any chance, to what’s going on today?”
It’s an idiot statement that lacks any kind of factual basis. The US fought the Japanese Imperial Army because it attacked Pearl Harbor, as well as to defend the US from further onslaught by a vicious enemy that was committing one major atrocity after the other in its campaign to subjugate the Pacific basin. To say that the US military was fighting the Japanese just because they were different, shows an amazing and appalling lack of basic knowledge of the history of the era. Hanks would be better off to concentrate on acting, than on offering history lessons. What an idiot. KGS
NOTE: Oh and by the way, he’s a vocal supporter of Obama and his unconstitutional planned take over of 1/6 of the American economy. Enough said.

  1. How about to defend Australia and South East Asia from Japanese aggression too.

    The only good Hollywood stars politically are John Voight and John Malkovich who;

"In a 2002 appearance at the Cambridge Union Society, when asked whom he would most like to "fight to the death," Malkovich replied that he would "rather just shoot" journalist Robert Fisk and British MP George Galloway.[9] Fisk reacted with outrage.[10] When interviewed by The Observer, Malkovich elaborated on his comments: "I hate somebody who is supposed to be a Middle Eastern expert who thinks Jesus was born in Jerusalem. I hate what I consider his vile anti-semitism. This being said, I apologize to both Fisk and Galloway; they seem like good men but if they make such a heinous mistake again, I will not hesitate to murder them brutally by way of the gallows."

  2. Another proof that actors should stick to what they do best; acting and leave the politics to others…
or, make sure they know what they are talking about before they open their mouths!

  3. What's all the commotion about?

So the guy doesn't know all his history and got taken in by Obama's promises. How many other Americans, Left and Right, are in the same boat?

You said "… US fought the Japanese Imperial Army because it attacked Pearl Harbor, as well as to defend the US from further onslaught", exactly what Hanks said, "they were out to kill us"

How has Obama planned an unconstitutional take-over of 1/6 the US economy? The same way the Bush gang shredded our civil rights?

  4. The commotion is about the moral relavitism involved in Hanks statement.

The US went after the Japs because the US was attacked at Pearl, and posed an immense risk for the takeover of the entire Pacific basin.

Hanks leaves the listener to believe that it was due to racism and non-acceptance of the other.

He's Lefty moron trying to re-write history and has to be called out on it.

Was there racism or racist slurs hurled, SURE THERE WAS, but that's in the context of seeing your buddies decapitated head and genitals stuffed into their mnouths and a host of other atrocities that the Japs first visited upon the US and its allies.

Hanks is making something out of those facts into something altogether differnt. That's the commotion.

  5. Is the sound in your heads just a constant rushing of wind or is it just a droning monotonous mumble?

Read Hanks words, in context and maybe, after you get over the initial embarrassment will understand what his, HISTORICALLY ACCURATE, statement was about.

What Hanks talks about is trying to understand how the soldiers, after what they experienced, were able to come back to a society not at war and the extremes that confronted them and how it relates to our soldiers coming home from the current wars. And some other stuff in a similar mode then followed by the statement above. It is a valid quesiton, and by the way, when soldiers are being psyched up for war, to confront not just an enemy but to fight through terrorizing circumstances and through what is probably the closest thing to living a nightmare you can't wake from… and especially at the time of the event (1940's) the political views were not quite the same as they are now, not quite so tolerant of other world views…

yes, this is one of the many ways our country, focused in on the fight. Ignoring that these were other human beings and debasing them to godless animals… it happened that way, it happened that way long before WW2, even the Civil war where we fought our own country men the soldiers on both sides were tought to view the enemy as something other than a cousin, a brother, another person because it is easier to kill them that way.

Its psychology, more importantly in perspective it is a psychology often needed to fight in a war. If you don't believe me, look at how we treated the native americans… then remember that we rounded up those of asian and japanese decent and put them in internment camps, but how many of German or Italian decent did we lock up?

Then remember that this country still struggles with how it views those who are different. THese are issues you need to understand… maybe you don't think you hate brown people, but at the very least you probably know people who do.

Do you think that makes any sense? That to dehumanize your opponent makes it easier to kill them?

And back to Hanks question, How do you go from that back into society?
When you hear the interviews with the men who were actually part of it, and I don't just mean in these series but back in a lot of interviews with veterans of foreign wars, these are important questions. Not an attack on our country.

  6. Listen, you're mixing apples and oranges. I care not a twit about what Hanks' intention was, but what what he said in those clips describing his views on the war in the Pacific basin, the war against the Japanese.

You show you know nothing of the Civil War either. The rules of war then, were higher, and far superior to what the Jihadis are doing now against the "unbeliever". That aside, you're speaking in generalities.

Fighting the Japanese who were "Asians" were countles of other Asians allied with, fighting alongside US troops, against the Japanese. To say that the US was involved with outright racism against japanese, while fighting with, being dependant upon other Asians, is an ridiculous notion. Then the US goes ahead with it's most "racist" act of all, and rebuilds the entire nation of Japan after the war.

You nitwit, get out here, I'm tired of discussing it with you, Moron.

  7. Thank you so much for posting this great article, I am so interested on what I read, good and useful content about Tom Hanks.
