Salon police suspect a resident from the Halikko reception center for asylum-seekers of soliciting sex acts from a child. Police have launched an investigation into the case on the basis of posted messages in the social media. The suspect is an adult Iraqi male.

The police are not revealing the age or place of residence of the suspect, nor any information on the case or progression of the investigation.

Inspector Joonas Tikka of the Salo police said, that local children and young people with the intention to cause commotion have been moving around within the reception center area.

– There is a was clearly underage girls who have sought contact with the adult residents. Some of the residents are attracted to the girls, at least one of them. It has not led to anything further, but now we have investigated such a case, Tikka says.

He points out that the police will monitor the situation carefully. The threshold for intervention is low, and the issues are tackled, if necessary, with a heavy hand.
