Turin Book Fair Affair Revisted…….

The Tundra Tabloids has been reporting on the Turin book fair during the past week. It involves the intended participation of Israel as a guest of honor to a book fair celebrating examples of cultural literature.

It was not meant to be political, but with the Arab states and their Socialist stooges involved, the fair has now devolved into a full blown political farce. The situation has become so ridiculous that now, even the heads of the Italy’s Communist political organizations are saying enough is enough.

Rome, 4 Feb. (AKI) – One of Italy’s prominent Jewish leaders has accused the political Left of promoting a “climate of intolerance” in considering a boycott of the Turin book fair.

Alessandro Ruben, the president of Italy’s anti-defamation league, attacked those who supported last week’s move by the Union of Arab Writers to boycott the fair.

On Saturday members of the Italian Communist Party (PCI) considered joining the Arab writers in boycotting the fair. But following opposition from two senior Left leaders, Fausto Bertinotti, head of the Italian lower house and Giovanni Russo Spena, head of the Communist Refoundation Party (PRC) in the Italian Senate, they backed down.

Remember, this is just a book fair celebrating culture in literature, and has nothing to do with politics, regardless of which side of the poltical divide one finds themself. If the Arabs and their dutiful socialist, dhimmi henchmen had their way, Israel would be banned from sporting events as well. Now enter the ‘European’ intellectual Islamist, Tariq Ramadan: “whoever has a conscience boycott the book fair.”

No further proof is needed about this Islamoacademic as to his sincerity about the enrichment of Europe, if given the chance, he would be leading the charge to not only boycott, but to burn Israeli literature, and other noble European works, in favor of….the Koran. Seeing the ‘front man’ for the Muslim Brotherhood in Europe, getting involved in the –Arab induced– book fair fiasco, is telling indeed.

Kudos to Alessandro Ruben, the president of Italy’s anti-defamation league:

“We are very concerned about the climate of cultural intolerance shown on one side of the Italian Left which has already announced the boycott of the Turin Book Fair dedicated this year to the state of Israel,” Ruben said.” Apart from the 60th anniversary of the state of Israel, this year is also the terrible and sad anniversary of “Kristallnacht” (or night of broken glass) when in 1938 through the initial destruction of books and Jewish culture, National Socialism began the anti-Jewish persecution.”

“You would have thought we should no longer promote actions that behind the guise of a presumed political critique are in reality hiding, the seeds of discrimination and cultural intolerance that today still strikes Israelis and Jews.

“Ruben said it was no longer tolerable for Italy, the fatherland of democracy, tolerance and rights, to be represented abroad, like it was with the boycott of the Pope at La Sapienza University, as a country which lacks elementary principles of dialogue between cultures.”
