Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: “There is no need to wait for the new constitution. Its solution is very easy. It can be solved through consensus over a sentence.”
Without the political element in Islam, there would be no problem with Muslim women wearing a scarf called the hijab. But it’s very foolish to think that every woman wearing one, or wanting to wear one, wouldn’t be used as a tool by the Islamists wanting to exert their influence on society.
This goes to the heart of the problem facing an entirely moderate and tolerant west, which appears to be unable to wrap its mind around the thought that, this is a religion which intends on exerting itself on political level. That same thinking is what usually is behind the building of a mosque as well, it is not just a house of prayer and worship of a deity, it is also a bulwark from which to promote and project its political agendas. Things are not as simple as we would wish them to be. More here. *L* KGS
