Dymphna over at the GoV beat me to the story first, and it’s a sad, depressing story that has been repeatedly commented on here and here at the Tundra Tabloids. Dr. Justus Reid Weiner, scholar at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) is interviewed for an article on the, slow but sure, disappearance of the Christian Arab community in the PA and Gaza areas.
Dr. Weiner, who is an acquaintance of the Tundra Tabloids, states that:
“The systematic persecution of Christian Arabs living in Palestinian areas is being met with nearly total silence by the international community, human rights activists, the media and NGOs,”
That same can be said of the Finnish Lutheran leadership, which is more than willing to trust its Christian Lutheran Arab leadership in the area, for all its information about the affairs of their co-religionists. The Archbishop of the Finnish Lutheran Church, Jukka Parma, confirmed as much to me in a letter earlier this year.
JP: “We in our church have quite good sources to get information from Middle East areas because of our own pastors and coworkers at place and information links between Christian churches in Arab lands, Israel and Finland. Of course all sources of LWF and WCC are known by us, too.”
My, my, doesn’t that make us all warm and fuzzy inside? (Sarcasm alert) I’m sure that the Christian Arabs in the PA and Gaza are “just delighted” with the dear Archbishop’s knowledge of their problems. It sure doesn’t help when he remains TOTALLY SILENT about the systematic discrimination and intimidation of the local Arab Christians, as well as the rape of their daughters and their forced emigration after living in their towns and villages for centuries.
No, instead, we read from the Lutheran Church’s highly influential rag Kotimaa, consistenly about how bad Israel is, and that their security precautions are to blame for everything. This kind of blatant propagandizing comes from the top, which also allows for its church affiliates to smear Israel in all kinds of ways.
The Church has stained itself with a political correctness that prevents it from looking at the plight of Arabs in the region, through anything else but its traditional anti-Israel lens. The way they’re behaving, it would appear that they’re in favor an all Muslim Bethlehem to celebrate Christmas in. HO HO HO! More here. *L* KGS
