Denmark: Well over half of young Somali, Lebanese, Moroccan, and Kuwaiti men have criminal histories

Immigrant-related crime and violence are hotly debated topics in Denmark, just as they are in Sweden and many other western countries.

Now the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten has published statistics having to do with crime among certain immigrant groups in Denmark, and the numbers are quite telling.

In its recent study, the thinktank Unitos examined young men born in 1985, 1986, and 1987 who’ve lived in Denmark since they were 14-years-old. The figures unearthed in the study revealed that over half of men with Somali, Lebanese, Kuwaiti, and Moroccan backgrounds had been convicted of a crime on one or more occasions before they reached 30-years-old, Danish online newspaper Den Korte Avis reports.

Among young Somali men born in 1985, 1986 and 1987, 222 out of 357 (62 percent) have at some point received a sentence for a criminal offense.

Lebanese men didn’t fare much better, with 322 out of 535 (60 percent) born between 1985 and 1987 having been convicted of a criminal offense. In Denmark, the people referred to as Lebanese are usually Muslim Palestinians who immigrated to Denmark from Lebanon.
