Husu Hussein did not tell SDP of his criminal convictions – signed form asking about it

Abdirahim “Husu” Hussein, who sought a seat in parliament, did not tell the SDP that he was convicted of crimes.
Social Democratic Party’s secretary, Antton Rönnholm, says the matter was not known to the party before Wednesday and Iltalehti’s news that Husu Hussein has been sentenced to three fraud offenses.
According to the judgments of 2001, 2002 and 2006, Hussein misled Kela and the City of Turku Social Welfare office to pay him undue labor aid and social assistance benefits totaling to about EUR 10,000.
According to Rönnholm, the SDP candidate signed a form before the parliamentary elections, in which respondents were asked whether they were convicted for any criminal offense.
Hussein did not tell the SDP in the form, that he has been convicted of these crimes.
– I would have been told if it were, Rönnholm says to the Iltalehti.
According to Rönnholm, Hussein’s criminal convictions have not been discussed in internal party discussions.
Hussein sought to parliament in 2011 and 2015 candidate for the Center Party but then switched to SDP in 2016.
In the 2017 local elections, Hussein received 985 votes and was elected to the Helsinki City Council. In the 2019 parliamentary elections, Hussein received 2,010 votes but was not elected.
