Finland: Foreigners suspected of crimes more often than Finns…….

Once again a telling tale…

Foreigners are suspected of crimes more often than Finns

The number of crimes reported to the police fell in property crimes and, in turn, violent and sexual offenses were rising.

Foreigners are suspected of crimes in Finland 20% comparatively more often than Finns, says statistics center ( Tilastokeskus).

Last year and the year before, 35.7 Finns per 1000 Finns and 41.8 foreigners per thousand foreigners were suspected of crimes. Quantitatively, Finns are suspected of being the main actor, or nearly 90% of the crimes investigated.

Differences between suspects vary according to gender, nationalities, and types of crime. Swedes were suspected 2.3 times more than Finns and 2 times more Iraqis.

For some crimes, the differences are even greater. In sexual offenses, Iraqi men are suspected 12.8 times more likely than men in Finland.

For women, the difference between nationalities is not as clear as for men.

The figures are suspicions that do not necessarily lead to prosecution or conviction. Asylum seekers are not included in the statistics, which only take into account people belonging to the Finnish population. (TT emboldened)

The number of offenses outside the criminal code also increased from the previous year. 487,000 infringements were recorded, representing an increase of 3% compared to 2017. Most offenses are related to traffic.

Some more crimes than before were left open. Instead, the percentage of clearing violations rose by nearly five percentage points.
