THE European Union will only survive if it takes a step back from meddling in member states’ business, leaders have warned.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has led the charge for a “multi-speed Europe” allowing some countries to move ahead with further integration faster than others.
Now Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are backing Germany as the EU attempts to map out its future in the wake of Brexit.
The three governments, known as the Benelux countries, warned the EU should stay out of issues which are being handled by member states.
