Wenn Pfefferspray ein normales Produkt in einer Drogerie wie DM geworden ist, sagt das auch viel über die Zeit aus, in der wir leben. pic.twitter.com/qswROqzZCO

In many parts of Germany, preparations for Carnival are in full swing. Merchants are advertising costumes, booze, confetti and… pepper spray. Under the slogan “Everything you need for the crazy days!” some Düsseldorf stores of Germany`s largest drugstore chain DM Drogerie are selling “animal defence spray“, along with, well, other Carnival items.
This has led some customers to express anger and dismay. Düsseldorf`s daily newspaper Rheinische Post reported: “Arguably the most prominent critic is Walid El Sheik“, whom the newspaper introduces as the owner of two downtown bars:
“In my opinion, what DM is doing is point-blank inhuman. This is a call to violence. Especially since Carnival has absolutely nothing to do with pepper spray. They are inciting against a section of the population.”
Which section of the population could he possibly mean? Gropers and rapists?
