FINNISH PRESIDENT ON INDEPENDENCE DAY: SPECULATE ON WHAT PRESIDENT ELECT-TRUMP MEANS TO FINLAND, SAYS “HE’S MODERATED HIS RHETORIC”…….

He also said that “Democracy doesn’t depend on one person”…..

For domestic statists/neo-statists (like himself) and their equivalent in the EU, they believe in a cabal of “masterminds and geniuses” to micro-manage society for us. They really don’t believe in representative government at all, just the charade of self governance, since political parties have created for themselves an insular mechanism that consistantly maintains the status quo, irregardless of what party forms a government.

President Niinistö does not want to speculate what kind of an effect US president-elect Donald Trump will have on Finland. The President pointed out how Trump’s rhetoric has softened since his election last month. ”We have to remember democracy does not depend on one person,” Niinistö says.

At Finland’s annual Independence Day reception, President Sauli Niinistö said during an interview with Yle that the changing geopolitical situation was something to keep an eye on.

”The resurgence of power politics and geopolitics is a fact, and is causing friction between those who want to make a fuss about themselves,” President Niinistö said.

Niinistö emphasised that he did not see the trend as a threat to Finland–but that it would not pay to ignore developments either.

“It’s never promised anything good, especially not for small countries,” said Niinistö.

Niinistö said that Finland’s security environment had changed with the global situation.

This year’s party follwed the theme of ‘Finland’s strengths’. Niinistö said there was good cause for celebrating what the country does best, with an appropriate level of modesty.

“I don’t mean that we should show off, but healthy self-respect would be in order,” said Niinistö.

NOTE: I’m sure he’s gotten an ear full from (Obama appointed) former jackass US ambassador to Finland, Bruce Oreck.
