BATTLE AGAINST ISIS: RAF warplanes have killed more than 1,700 jihadis in two years
RAF warplanes have killed hundreds of Islamic State jihadis during two years of raids on Middle East targets, the MoD has revealed.

RAF Typhoons and Tornados plus Reaper drones have killed more than 1,700 IS fighters.
They include 1,571 in Iraq since RAF raids began two years ago and 181 in Syria since MPs approved operations there in December 2015.
These deaths are on top of the jihadis killed by other members of the US-led coalition – though Britain has carried out more raids than any nation other than America.
Daesh is being defeated. It is being driven back. It now occupies less than 10 per cent of Iraqi territory
The scale of the killings is shown by estimates that IS has about 3,000 fighters in Mosul, Iraq’s second city, and another 3,000 in its Syrian HQ in Raqqa.
Defence Secretary Sir Michael Fallon said the air war and fighting by local troops on the ground is driving IS or Daesh out of Iraq where two years ago it held vast swathes of territory.
He said: “Daesh is being defeated. It is being driven back. It now occupies less than 10 per cent of Iraqi territory.
