Recently retired from office, Police Director Mikko Paatero, will continue to work on behalf of Finnish security, in a way one is not able to do so as a public official: Talking directly.
Paatero warns of those applicants refused asylum in Finland becoming criminals. He presents a very bitter criticism of the church, which favors hiding those awaiting deportation from the country by the parishes and private citizens.
In fact, I do not approve of the Church’s thinking, that it would take into its protection, those who are illegally in the country, housing them and refusing to hand them over to the authorities. The Church is to assist those in distress in all situations, it is said. The question is to whether the Church knows if they are in real trouble.
