WHY A MILITARY COUP WAS TURKEY’S

BEST HOPE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

It might have seemed absurd that Turkey’s latest attempt at a military coup took place under the banner of restoring human rights, but the simple fact of the matter is that Turkey’s military is the closest thing the country has to a guarantee of human freedoms against Islamic theocracy.

The AKP Islamic theocracy currently running Turkey is led by a mad tyrant who believes that he is 8 leader of the revival of the Ottoman Caliphate, whose prisons groan with political prisoners, and who has his hand in the rotting pie of Islamic terrorism from Israel to Iraq.

  1. There’s at least one good thing to come out of this coup. It makes it so much hardr for Turkey to ever get into the EU

  2. Was this a coup or a stage act?

If there was an actual coup, it would have been carefully planned and successful. The net result of recent events will be Erdogan tightening his police-state grip.

    Pretty pathetic. But that’s Erdogan!

Will the United States and Europe be silent on the human rights violations that will likely follow? We’ll find out soon enough. The Turks are demanding extradition of a Turkish cleric living in asylum in Pennsylvania. That would require legal proceedings in the U.S. that consider whether he can get a fair trial and humane treatment in Turkey.

    1. All I can say is that it was highly providential for Erdogan………
