During autumn, the Arab media image of Finland, and how it treats asylum seekers, has changed completely.

Even in September the Arab media forwarded a rosy image of Finland : newspapers praised Finnish hospitality and Prime Minister Juha Sipilä was exemplary from earth to heaven.

Prime Minister’s Statement to open Kempele his home to asylum seekers attracted great attention in the Arab media. Arab magazines wrote at the time that the Syrian refugees receive a warm reception in Finland: music is played for them and are called to enjoy the loveliness of Finnish nature. Also protests against racism that were staged in Finland were commemorated in the press.
