Any such talk of crimes committed in the host state as not being sufficient enough of a reason for expulsion, is pure twaddle.
The UN’s own laws, agreed to by member states, does not designate where a crime has been committed as grounds for being refused the desired status. No, it simply states that having been convicted of a serious crime and is deemed as constituting a serious threat to society as grounds enough for expulsion.
NOTE: Special thanks to Sami Kuisma for this.
Ban Ki-Moon is presently in Finland today, it would be great for a journo to ask this from the head honcho himself.
