JACKASS HELSINKI UNIVERSITY LECTURER SAYS ”INCOME EQUALITY” TO BLAME FOR SEGREGATED NEIGHBORHOODS……..

These same idiots who promote multiculturalism refuse to take credit for its inherent failures.

How about the asinine socialist policies that promote immigration of people  with low to no level skills who suck up badly needed resources in a welfare state that’s daily adding on to its debt load in order to pay for utopia today? What about the geniuses of this generation foisting on to future generations a load of debt and a faulty system that will lead to their own ruin?

And what’s this about ”income inequality”? What exactly is this term that whomever is using it, always fails to describe just exactly what it is? You want income equality? move to N.Korea.

“Housing and urban research have shown that segregation is increasing in Finland,” says Johannes Kananen, a senior lecturer and researcher at the University of Helsinki focused on the issues concerning the Nordic welfare state and employment policy.

“It’s about growing socio-economic segregation and in time having ‘better’ and ‘worse’ places of residence. In Helsinki, the eastern and northern areas tend to be socio- economically in a worse position. It is there that ethnic diversity has increased,” Kananen adds.

Growing risk of segregated neighbourhoods

In both Finland and Sweden are seeing internal migration leading towards a pattern of reduced ethnic diversity in some neighborhoods. As the immigrant population density rises in these areas, more ethnic Finnish residents are tending to move out.

The concept of the Nordic welfare society is associated with well-functioning labour and housing markets where everyone is offered the same opportunities.

However, there are divisions that could be moving towards a form of segregation.

A vicious circle

According Kananen, a vicious circle has become evident in some neighborhoods. Housing problems and social problems pile up and public services deteriorate. As the need for social and health care is greater in these areas, it leads to more and more people seeking public services that already suffer from a lack of resources.

“The opposite trend can be seen in affluent neighbourhoods. There, people have paid jobs, good social networks and better public services. They can buy expensive homes and the neighbourhood is attractive for those who can pay. Market demand for expensive housing increases and it becomes even more expensive to live in these areas. This leads to making it difficult to afford accommodations on an average salary,” Johannes Kananen explains.

Income inequality the culprit

The question arises whether segregation can be prevented.

“Yes,” says John Kananen, “But, it is difficult and it is a conscious choice. It is, of course, difficult to manage prejudice. You cannot control existing attitudes from the top down. It is not enough to say stop having prejudices against immigrants.”

Kananen sees what he calls “the big explanation” in income inequality, which he argues has increased in both Finland and Sweden as a result of social policies.

Kananen notes that it is only through political decisions a reduction can be achieved in the income gap, “It is exports that have been emphasized and competitiveness is being promoted. Taxes are lowered and that means social change. Finland has had many governments that have chosen to reduce both taxes and social benefits.”

NOTE: Yeah, it’s got to be ”prejudice”, not the reduction of the quality of life that most Finns have become used to in spite of the socialism (free market economics works to whatever extent its allowed to flourish). What a jerk.
