Justice Minister “could in some circumstances consider the death penalty”

Finland’s new Justice Minister has expanded on his position on the death penalty. He now says he ‘could consider’ the punishment for the most severe crimes after journalists uncovered previous statements in support of the execution of some criminals.
“My answer was that I could consider it,” said Lindström at a Finns Party press conference. “So it’s a little bit unbelievable to write that I was a killer and murder and all that.”
“I was mainly considering the kind of situation where my own nearest and dearest, for example my grandkids, would be the victims of something, then my answer was that I ‘could consider’ it.”
