“We’re here to stay,” trumpets populist Soini
Finland’s party leaders met the international press on Sunday night after an election that saw the Centre Party emerge as the largest group in parliament.

Finns Party chair Timo Soini, meanwhile, had an emphatic message after his party managed to retain it’s spot among the ‘big four’.
“We are here to stay,” said the self-declared Eurosceptic.
After turning down a place in government four years ago over the controversial EU bailouts for Greece, Soini will now be expected to enter into serious discussions about joining a coalition. In contrast to other EU countries where populist parties have been ostracised, in Finland political leaders have tried to get the Finns Party to take on governmental responsibility in the hope that their appeal might be dented.
