No shame whatsoever. None.
Why won’t he accept the blame? Labour Party demands its Police Commissioner quit for failing to protect children from Pakistani sex gangs in Rotherham
Shaun Wright, pictured, was in charge of children’s services when Rotherham Council failed many of these victims, yet has gone on to become the £85,000-a-year Police and Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire, a force who also treated the victims with contempt. Over 16 years the children were taken by taxi from schools and children’s homes for sex acts by Asian men – mainly of Pakistani origin. But the authorities turned a blind eye to the abuse because they feared being labelled racist. Rotherham Council leader Roger Stone resigned yesterday following the publication of Professor Alexis Jay’s report but Mr Wright, a former Labour councillor, has refused to follow suit.
