Salafists advertise in schools for new followers

Hamburger students and teachers feel pressured by Islamists. In addition, the Salafists prohibited Hizb ut-Tahrir is visible. An internal paper gives examples authorities.

Salafists and other Islamist organizations targeting individual schools in Hamburg with a new trailer seeking to promote themselves and to spread fundamentalist propaganda. In addition to the Salafists, whose followers in Hamburg in 2013 have grown from 200 to 240 persons,  the trailer shows the appearance of Hizb ut-Tahrir in the Hanseatic city, forbidden since 2003,  – a violence-oriented organization seeking the establishment of a worldwide caliphate based on Shariah.

“Both Salafists as well as members of Hizb ut-Tahrir are trying among other things to wins  new followers  in schools and in other educational institutions,” the Senate writes in his response to a FDP request. So does the constitutional protection of a Hizb ut-Tahrir supporters who posed as a member of the parent council and only fathers expressly invited to an event to discuss “the situation and the future of their children” at school.

Even more drastic cases authorities call a internal paper of the Institute for Teacher Training and School Development, entitled “Religious conflict colored layers at Hamburg schools” through which the“Hamburger Morgenpost” reported. Students would be put under pressure when they wore a headscarf or wanted to participate in swimming lessons, teachers reported religiously motivated threats of violence, girls are likely to neither dance nor play at the elementary school suddenly, in friendship books to find Salafist propaganda.
