According to an earlier story about the same incident (from Sept of last year), the man had to pay 6000 euros, had his passport confiscated, forced to work for an hourly wage, lived in the basement of the pizzeria and his family was forced to pay more money to the pair of criminals.

Two charged with human trafficking in Kouvola

Two men are on trial for human trafficking in Kymenlaakso District Court. According to the charges they held a Turkish man against his will in a pizzeria in Kouvola, forcing him to work without pay.

The two men, both of foreign origin, enticed a Turkish man to Finland with promises of a share in a pizzeria in Kouvola in exchange for 5000 euros.

Instead, they took away his passport and confined him to the pizzeria’s cellar. According to prosecutors, the man was also forced to work long days without pay.

In addition to the charges of human trafficking, one of the two defendants is also charged with organizing illegal entry, three charges of border violations and two charges of forgery. The defendant has admitted to most of the charges to the offenses which took place in 2011 in Kouvola, Helsinki and Lappeenranta.
