If this happened in Finland, the home owner would be in jail with a charge of unjustified homicide/disproportionate response or some other concocted charge meant to convict whatever the situation happened to be. It’s not very comforting to know that if disaster strikes, you end up being victimized twice over. Kudos to Florida law and the US constitution.
NOTE: It’s a single shot AK-47, full automatics are illegal in most cases, and extremely difficult to obtain a permit.
MAN KILLS HOME INTRUDER WITH AK-47
On January 2, a Davie, Florida resident was able to gain control of his AK-47 and open fire on home intruders while they were attacking him. One of the intruders was killed and two others are on the run.
According to NBC Miami, “three armed men entered the apartment [of an unnamed resident], and pistol-whipped the resident inside.” The resident had an AK-47 in the apartment “and after he received the beating he was able able to get possession or control of that,” at which time he started shooting and the suspects fled.
Although the resident killed one of the three suspects, the initial attack left him wounded badly enough that he had to be taken to a hospital once police arrived.
