If you can’t make it in the private sector, then go out of business and let something more profitable to take your place. This is nothing more than leeching off the taxpayer who’s being demanded to reward failure. This goes for all other businesses as well. The free market rewards success and punishes failure, as it should.
Swedish-language daily Hufvudstadsbladet covers a proposal to provide state support to the Finnish press. The proposal from an industry lobby group was presented to Communications Minister Pia Viitanen on Tuesday. HBL laments that Finland does not provide direct support for newspaper companies, in contrast to other Nordic countries where the state provides up to 50 million euros per year.
