UKIP leader Nigel Farage yesterday declared his party the new bearers of the Thatcherite torch.
He branded David Cameron a “wimp” — and accused him of squandering the legendary PM’s glorious legacy.
In an exclusive interview, he vowed to keep her flame alive to trigger an “earthquake” in British politics.
Mr Farage thinks Baroness Thatcher’s death will boost UKIP support as fed-up Tories quit a party that has “lost its heart and soul”.
The former City trader has just finished a 1,600-mile campaign tour for the local elections on May 2.
He is fielding a record 1,740 candidates and claims Lady Thatcher’s admirers are turning to his party.
Many are attracted by his True Blue stance on Europe, taxation, defence, immigration and the Human Rights Act.
“It won’t be UKIP that costs the Tories lots of votes,” he declared. “It will be David Cameron.
