  1. That description describes every single American who has learned at least high school American history. The constant tension between centralized and decentralized authority as well as the dialogue between individual liberty and the greater good has been central to the history of America from before it’s founding up to this very day.

    That dialogue itself is the very essence of America. The founding fathers would say that it’s the whole point of creating the country they did.
