anti-semitism in Norway Jews in Norway Kristin Halvorsen NIJ

NEWS FLASH: KNOWLEDGE OF ENTRENCHED NORWEGIAN ANTI-SEMITISM LEAKING OUTSIDE NORWAY’S BORDER IN ALL THE RIGHT PLACES…….

Over at Norway, Israel and the Jews blog, NIJ posts a letter of a doctor that was sent to US Senator, Charles Schumer concerning anti-Semitism in Norway. The Tundra Tabloids has posted on this phenomenon for quite while now, with all that was mentioned in the letter having been posted here, but this marks the first time (that I know of) that the issue is beginning to gain steam, no matter how slight it appears in the beginning, outside of Norway, and most importantly, inside the US.

No matter what your opinions are about top Democrat, Charles Schumer, (the TT has a low opinion of the statist) the facts remain that this letter will be forwarded on ahead and could become the vehicle by which the issue will gain a wider audience. Great to see this taking place and the TT asks all of its US readers to do the same, send in similar emails to your own political leadership on both sides of the aisle. KGS

NIJ: It had to happen sooner or later. The insular nature of Norwegian politics has manifested itself in different forms of groupthink and that to such an extent that even foreigners are noticing. You see below a letter from Professor Ben Lerner, a retired professor of psychology at a university in New York State, to Senator Schumer. Schumer is a member of the so-called Norwegian caucus in Congress.

This letter makes a difference for two reasons: 1) In the old days the Norwegian authorities and the media-machine would have easily been able to dismiss the letter as being unsubstantiated rubbish – in the internet-age this is no longer possible. Anyone interested in finding out about Norway is today easily able to do so 2) Professor Lerner is not the only person to be worried. The Norwegian Palestine-Lobby is placing Norway on the map.

More important than simply “handling it” we Norwegians need to understand that all is not well here, and that Norway’s relationship to Israel is merely the tip of the iceberg.

Dear Senator Schumer,
I am writing to you because you have long been known to us in the Young Israel of Avenue J and in Flatbush, as a solid friend of Israel, and of Jews all over the world. To my dismay, recent anti-Semitic events in Norway are cause for concern, and I bring them to your attention. I believe you would be particularly interested since you are a member of the Congressional Norwegian Caucus.
News reports describe virulent anti-Semitic riots. At one of them Minister of Finance Kristin Halvorsen is pictured standing next to a sign which reads “US and Israel, the axis of the greatest evil.”
A government financed NGO sent two doctors to Gaza, where they broadcast Hamas propaganda. Later, they published a book about their visit, which came out with a laudatory back cover comment by Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere. There have been other unsettling incidents, involving governmental persons and bodies.
Norway exports large quantities of oil, but none to Israel.
I call these matters to your attention because of your long-standing commitment to fairness, and your support for Jews and Israel. I urge you to raise these urgent issues as a member of the Congressional Norwegian Caucus and thus improve the situation.
Very truly yours,
Benjamin Lerner, Ph.D.
