Aslum Seekers Stage Hunger Strike

A number of asylum seekers are staging a hunger strike at the Metsälä reception centre in Helsinki.
According to an interpreter at the centre, Ari Paziri, the strike is in protest against recent deportations which they consider to be unfair and against the actions of officials and poor legal services.
The Director of the Centre, Pekka Nuutinen says it is unclear how many asylum seekers are taking part in the protest. There have been a number of similar hunger strikes at the centre in the past.
In April, asylum seekers at a reception centre in Oravainen staged a hunger strike, after which two men were taken into hospital care.
