Anti-Israel bigotry and bias Boycott Oslo University

MORE ON UNIVERSITY OF NORWAY’S DEBATE ON BOYCOTT OF ISRAEL…….

The SPME reponds to the rector of the University of Norway.

Ole Petter Ottersen, Professor MD, PhD
Rector, University of Oslo

Dear Rector Otterson:

On behalf of the nearly 60,000 faculty network participants (including over 55 Nobel Laureates from around the world) and President and Board of Directors of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME), we wish to convey our strongest support for the Rector of the University of Oslo in his opposition to any discussion or action of boycotting Israeli scholars or Israeli academic institutions by the University of Oslo or its faculty.
It has been the position of SPME that .academic boycotts are a threat to academic freedom and diminish the prospects for peace. This principled position against boycotts has been upheld time and again in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom and in Norway itself.
We trust this boycott initiative will be thwarted and look forward to your report.
Please respond to me as soon as possible so that we may report to the world that your University has done the right thing by averting any boycott action.

Thank you.
