First of all, lets be clear here, this cleric who sponsored the fatwa initiative is an antisemite, as well as a being a strong supporter of sharia in Canada. He’s not a mild Muslim, but a true hard core believer and worshipper of Mohamed, who also filed a complaint against Ezra Levant for publishing a picture of the dead false prophet. The Tundra Tabloids smells a rat here. Syed Soharwardy would like nothing better than for the Canadian government to view him and his fellow travellers in a better light, and what better way to get Ottowa to shine a favorable light upon them, than to issue a fatwa discouraging terrorism on N.Americans, which includes the US as well.
Syed Soharwardy soon hopes to be the toast of the political elite in Canada, and why shouldn’t he be hopeful, with so many politicians and law enforcement officials ignorant about the stealth jihad, they’ll snap at the chance of getting a bogus change of heart “refomer” into their ranks. KGS

Imams issue fatwa against terrorists

Twenty imams have issued a “fatwa” against any Muslim who would attempt to commit an act of terrorism in Canada or the United States.
Syed Soharwardy, an imam at the Al-Madinah Calgary Islamic Centre, who organized the initiative, said on Friday that any attack by foreign elements should also be considered a direct affront to the 10 million Muslims who call either Canada or the United States home.
“We want Muslims around the world who would dare to commit terrorism on our soil to know that we stand together with all Canadians and Americans.
“We are asking Muslims here not only to condemn terrorism but to also see these events as attacks on themselves.”
Imam Soharwardy said he thought of the initiative just after a Nigerian man was charged with trying to blow up a U.S. airliner on Christmas Day. At that point he began calling religious leaders here and in the United States to join his effort.
Nineteen Canadian imams and one American have signed the fatwa to date.
“The Koran teaches us that we have an obligation to stop violence. We live in a non-Muslim country called Canada where Muslims and others live side by side and this is our country, too.
“Our children are born here. Our future children will live here. That’s why we have to oppose this violence.”
Since the threats against Salman Rushdie several years ago, most people think of fatwas as death threats. But in fact, the imam notes, the vast majority of fatwas are condemnations or even non-binding directives that are meant to teach fellow Muslims the proper religious response to a given situation.
He said many Muslims he has spoken to say there lives have grown miserable and have suffered societal backlash because of the perceived association between violence and Islam.
But since 9/11, he added, it has become imperative for Muslims to vocally condemn violence — even though they have no personal responsibility for those heinous acts.
Muslims who live in this country should also stop fighting the battles that they left behind when they came to live here, he added.

I suppose acts of terrorism against Israel are probably fine and dandy to Syed Soharwardy. Just speculating here.
I wonder if Syed Soharwardy would consider Naveed Haq a terrorist.
Great point TINSC, Jews are most certainly fair game for any of these Muslim clerics. This is all a ruse in order to get the Canadian authorities to view them in a different light.
It's all too transparent.
Whatever Moslems do to "infidels or hypocrites" is, by definition, not terrorism. Perhaps Syed Soharwardy is finally getting the message that the Jihadis consider him a "hypocrite".
Most Islamist terrorist attacks are directed at Muslims who aren't "pure" enough in their beliefs. Nationalists, pluralists, lefist-leaning Muslims are in the crosshairs of the Islamists. Syed Soharwardy wants his cake and eat it too. He wants the protection of the Canadian state. He also wants to establish Sharia, but it has to be with HIM in charge; otherwise, it's no good.
The one thing we have going for us in the war against Islamo-Fascism is the propensity of the various Islamist leaders to wage war upon one another.
