Historical Lesson Time: When Will The West Ever Learn……?

Full credit goes to the Gates of Vienna for originally posting the story, which contains a valuable lesson for all concerned. We Europeans should not be listening to the sour propaganda coming from our MC/PC EU mandarin elitists… at all.
The MC/PC crowd usually shares the misguided notion that our western culture is not only inherently evil and second rate, but that other non-western cultures and value systems, like Islam, has something of value to offer us.
The Baron writes about the resurgence of religious teaching in British schools, but the twist to the story is that it’s not the traditional religion of the indigenous people of Britain, but of the Muslim world, …Islam.
“When I was a teenager living in England during the 1960s, religion — i.e. Christianity — was still studied in the schools. I attended a grammar school in Yorkshire, and if memory serves, some of my fellow students took Scripture O-levels. I presume all that opiate-of-the-people rubbish got thrown out when the big switch to comprehensive schools took place in the 1970s. But, after 35 years, religion is coming back to state schools in the UK, only this time it’s not the Christian religion.”
That’s right folks, the British state is going to get back into the religion business, but this time around it’s going to be Islam that’s going to be taught to the young, giving it a privileged status that no other belief system will enjoy. As the Baron correctly observes, not all are happy about the idea of British children being taught Islamic traditions and values in compulsory citizenship lessons.

David Conway, senior research fellow at the Civitas think-tank, said: ‘Some will see this as another sign of a creeping process of Islamisation — an insidious process which plays down the Christian basis of our culture and encourages children to learn more and more about Islam’s contribution.‘ Muslims are still a relatively small minority in Britain and, while I have nothing against children in our multi-religious society learning about each other’s faiths, for one particular faith to be privileged in mainstream schools seems to me pointless, and won’t make for greater harmony.‘ I fear it will play into the hands of the small minority who want to see the Islamisation of Europe, and believe they will triumph through sheer numbers.’

This is certainly a dark day in our modern western history. A former great empire rejects the wise and prudent wisdom of those who ruled it in past ages, settling for the instruction of its young with a belief system as alien to its culture as an apple in a desert. Take a look at what other wise men once said about the belief system that is about to be disseminated in British schools.Via the Sheik: “Hugh Fitzgerald, Jihad Watch Board Vice President Hugh Fitzgerald ponders why early American statesmen saw clearly about Islamic jihad, but their dhimmi successors of today do not.”

In a recent article prompted by his reading of Joshua London’s Victory in Tripoli, Andrew Bostom, who compiled The Legacy of Jihad, adduces from London’s text a number of telling descriptions of Islam and of Muslims by some of the most important figures in American history. Two of them were Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, in 1786 ambassadors (Jefferson in Paris, Adams in London) from the newly-established American Republic still under the Articles of Confederation (the Treaty of Paris had been signed in 1783, the Constitution was ratified only in 1787). They had a meeting with the representative of Tripolitania (present-day Libya) then in the Great Britain, Sidi Haji Rahmand Adja. Like other Christian maritime powers, the American state had suffered from the state-piracy of Muslim corsairs. The word “piracy” implies mere seeking at random for booty, and is inadequate to describe the formal system by which Muslim corsairs had for centuries been making war on Christian shipping, with the foreknowledge (indeed, often registering in advance either the places their ships would be going, or what Infidel shipping they intended to attack) and support of the Muslim rulers of the North African states — which, in turn, were ostensibly under the control of the Ottoman rulers in Istanbul. Both Jefferson and Adams were learned men. Take a tour in Quincy or at Monticello and look at their libraries, and then imagine the reading material that sustains the current, or the last few, American presidents. But they had no reason to know about Islam. They were interested in the civilization of the West, to which they belonged. Islam was merely a disturbing and violent intruder, to south and east, of that West. The notion that someday Muslims in the Western world would be insisting that the Western world owed so much to Islam, that the Renaissance was practically a Muslim invention, that without Islam the great civilization of the Western world was unthinkable, would have been regarded by them as what it is: absurdity, from first to last, a travesty of history. But did they know much about what prompted Muslim behavior? No. So they asked why the Barbary states (present-day Morocco, Algerian, Tunisia, and Libya) would continually attack American and all other Infidel shipping, seize the cargoes and the sailors, taking both back to Islamic lands and enslaving those Christian seamen who sometimes could be ransomed, sometimes not. So they asked the ambassador, Mr. Adja, why the Muslims of the Maghrib, the “Barbary pirates” as they were known in the West, did as they did.
He had no trouble answering them, as the report written by Jefferson and Adams to the Continental Congress shows:“…that it was founded on the Laws of their Prophet, that it was written in their Koran, that all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found, and to make slaves of all they could take as Prisoners, and that every Musselman who should be slain in Battle was sure to go to Paradise.” More here.

The simple moral of this post is, that we need to brush up on our history, minus all the MC/PC crapola, and begin to view our present day situation in much the same way as our forefathers viewed the same anti-western menace that confronted them. I end this post with a final quote written by John Quincy Adams after his retirement in 1829:“….he [Muhammad] declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind…The precept of the Koran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that Mahomet is the prophet of God…the faithful follower of the prophet may submit to the imperious necessities of defeat: but the command to propagate the Moslem creed by the sword is always obligatory, when it can be made effective. The commands of the prophet may be performed alike, by fraud, or by force.”The “command” to Believers to engage in “perpetual war” — performed “alike by fraud or by force” – against the Infidels, the Unbelievers, was no secret to the well-traveled (St. Petersburg, among other places he was stationed) and well-read John Quincy Adams. In a previous article Bostom had quoted John Quincy Adams comparing the essence of Christian doctrine with the essence of Islam.”And also British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill:How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.…A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities … but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome. [The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pp. 248-50.]How non-MC/PC could John Quincy Adams and Winston Churchill get? But their views are as valid today as they were when they wrote them. *L* KGS
