Finland’s Prime Minister Snubs Israelis on Key Day…….

Yesterday the Israeli embassy celebrated the 60th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel, and out of the thousand or so guests on the list, only a few representative of the President of Finland showed up. According to protocol, the Prime Minister of Finland, Matti Vanhanen, should have been at the function which took place in Espoo, a suburb of Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
According to an article by Juha-Pekka Tikka in the Ilta-Sanomat, former Finnish Ambassador to Israel, (suurlähettiläs) Pekka J. Korvenheimo was dumb-struck that the PM failed to show up. Korvenheimo stated that:
“It’s most certain that the various diplomatic core gathered there took notice of it, and most likely filed their reports about to their own governments. This isn’tright, … I don’t know, was the Foreign Ministry asleep?”
