Pakistani Red Mosque Ring Leader Dead…….

The pro-Taliban cleric, Abdul Rashid Ghazi –brother to Abdul Aziz, the Islamist who fled the Red Mosque in a women’s burqa– was found dead with a couple of bullet holes in him, after crack Pakistani troops ordered him to surrender, and was subsequently shot after refusing to respond to their direct orders.

The Keskisuomalainen (Central Finland’s main news daily) gave the following headline to their article on the incident:

“Johtaja kuoli yrittäessään antautua / Leader dies in attempt to surrender” Reuters/AFP/AP

The (al)-Reuters’ headline and article make no mention of his attempted surrender nor does the AP. Being ordered to surrender, and actually surrendering, are two different issues. Perhaps Ol’ Ghazi wanted to go out in a “blaze of glory” like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Anyways, once again the KS’s headline leads the reader to conclude something that is not entirely clear at this point. I guess sensationalism is to hard pass up, even for the main news dailys. A good report can be found here. *L* KGS
